Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the vicinity of the Kaxiangda area, Tuoba Region 70 km to the east of the Chando County, Tibet. It was named by Zhang Linxin et al., in 1979.


Lithology and Thickness

Clastics. Grey-black siltstone, sandstone, grey calcareous shale and bioclastic limestone. Thickness is 1073 m

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Tuoba Fm

Upper contact

Unconformable below the uppermost Permian volcanics of Xiayacun Andesite Fm

Regional extent

Distributed in the Chando and Mongkang Counties of Tibet and Nangqian County of Qinghai Province.

Fossils

Abundant marine animal fossils among which the Fusulinida belong to the Palaeofusulina fauna, the corals comprise Waagenophyllum and Asserculinia, etc., and with brachiopods comprising Peltichia, Waagenites, Leptodus, Spinomarginifera, Cathaysia, Tyloplecta, Semibrachythyrina, Oldhamina, etc.
